Time-It Compact

Overview

Engineered and assembled a fully synchronous, high-precision digital stopwatch using discrete TTL/CMOS logic ICs on physical breadboards, operating entirely on hardware gate logic without any microcontroller software code.

Key Features

  • 4 units of 74HC160 decade counters and 74HC4511 BCD-to-7-segment decoders driving synchronous MM:SS timing array
  • Hardware lap capture using 74HC157 multiplexers and 74HC175 registers, locking display while background counters run
  • Start/stop state machine with 74HC76 JK flip-flops preventing push-button contact bounce from disrupting timing
  • Comprehensive logic trees with 74HC08 (AND), 74HC04 (NOT), and 74HC02 (NOR) for reset, timing gate, and mode control
  • Clock distribution network calibrated with oscilloscope for 1 Hz oscillator precision
